The Crown and Castle in Orford has announced that it has won the award of Small Hotel of the Year Tourism Award 2022-23.
The regional award recognises small serviced accommodation businesses, which provide “memorable” guest experiences and demonstrate excellence across every aspect.
The annual competition sets out to champion the “best” tourism and hospitality businesses, celebrating quality, innovation and best practice from across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
All eligible applications are assessed and scored through two rounds of independent judging with the best in each category being shortlisted for the awards gala dinner.
The service, artwork in the rooms and public spaces, décor, and local cuisine provided at the hotel all contributed to The Crown and Castle winning the title.
The hotel company said that it is now going to compete with other areas of England for the national Visit England Awards for Excellence, “the most coveted accolade in English tourism”.
David Scott, CEO of The Hotel Folk who owns and runs The Crown and Castle in Orford said: “I am very proud of the team at The Crown and Castle to whom we owe this fantastic achievement.
“It clearly shows their dedication and commitment to both our guests and the region’s tourism economy highlighting the importance of offering the highest possible standards throughout. My sincerest congratulations to all involved.”
The Crown and Castle also just finished renovating all seven of its rooms, designing them as local landmarks.
