Located above Asha’s contemporary Indian restaurant, which KRO Hospitality acquired when it bought the freehold of 47 Peter Street in August 2018, Forty Seven will feature “some of the largest and most extravagant suites in Manchester” .
A planning application for the 47-bedroom hotel, which will comprise the Peterman underground bar, will be submitted later this month.
KRO Hospitality intends for Asha, which will receive a soft revamp during the development of the hotel, to become “the heart and soul” of the property. Asha –inspired by Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle, who in 2011 was declared by the Guinness World Records as the world’s most prolific recording artist – opened in 2015.
Kim Eivind Krohn, owner of KRO Hospitality, said the hotel will “increase the level of excitement in the area adding to the already animated Peter Street scene”. He added: “We are surrounded by so many fantastic bars, restaurants and hotels but we will be in a unique position where we can offer all three in one location.”
Visiting Manchester on Wednesday, Bhosle added: “I am very excited to see these plans transform the area around my restaurant and create a complete leisure package for visitors to Manchester. Since we opened our doors in 2015, locals and visitors have really taken to the restaurant and I can see how these plans will enhance our reputation in this fantastic city.”
Asha is located in 13 global locations including three sites in the UK: Birmingham and Solihull, as well as Manchester.
KRO Hospitality also owns the Velvet hotel in Manchester. Plans are expected to be submitted later this year for a 10-bedroom extension to the hotel.
