Hyatt Hotels has announced the debut of its Destination by Hyatt brand in the UK with Schloss Roxburghe, a historic estate that has gone through an extension to add a spa, 58 additional rooms, and 12 luxury Scottish cottages.
Following the continued expansion of Hyatt’s luxury brands across Europe, the opening of Schloss Roxburghe represents a “significant” growth milestone for the Destination by Hyatt portfolio in Europe, as it joins the 7Pines Resorts in Ibiza and Sardinia.
The estate is located close to the market town of Kelso, an hour from Edinburgh and Newcastle, on 300 acres of countryside.
Formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, it offers a total of 78 rooms and suites, as well as 12 two-bedroom cottages, 20 guest rooms and suites within the historic manor house, and 58 guest rooms within The Estate House.
In addition, the property will in time introduce a further 50 cottages, planned to be available to guests later this year.
The estate also has two on-site restaurants alongside a tearoom and various lounges, each serving a “modern twist” on traditional Scottish food. Under the guidance of the hotel’s culinary director Mark Drummond, the gourmet menus prioritise fresh, local produce to “help elevate the hotel’s culinary experience”.
Arnaud de Saint-Exupéry, area VP of Hyatt UK&I, said: “As the first Hyatt hotel to open its doors in Scotland and the 14th property in the UK, this immersive country retreat reflects the growing demand from ‘World of Hyatt’ members and guests for discovery-filled experiences in some of Britain’s most sought-after locations.
“We are delighted by the introduction of this Destination by Hyatt property to our diverse and fast-growing UK portfolio.”
